Excelle:Blog Review

Waking up after what felt like the longest week since I moved to Yorkshire, Elliott and I ran around the flat packing our bags for our first romantic break of 2017.

We decided to take the scenic route (my granddad would be proud) to Lake Windermere, and I’m glad we did! The views that we encountered on the way up to Cumbria were breath-taking.

Hungry and fed up of sitting in the car for 3.5 hours due to following a road closure diversion, as you can imagine I was so relieved to see the hotel that had taken such a journey to get to!

The Beech Hill Hotel is around a 10 minute drive away from Windermere town centre. However if you don’t have a form of transport this hotel isn’t for you, as there are no local amenities and it wouldn’t be a short walk into Windermere.

Greeted by friendly, well-kept staff, you feel as if you have walked into a 1950s film set. Big old leather sofas surround an open fire in the reception/lounge area (where free WIFI is available), the walls are covered in old paintings, maps and a stag’s head hangs impressively on one of the walls. Tucked around the corner of this big room is the bar where you could buy drinks and snacks in the afternoon. Peering in through French windows is a fabulous view of Lake Windermere....
