We have some really exciting news. But first some background to the story. Many years ago (circa 35-40) my parents used to take their speed boat (a Winner Wildcat) up to Windermere, launch it and then moor it up on the Beech Hill Hotel's jetty. We would stay at the hotel and then have a week of water sports activities, kneeboarding, water-skiing and generally just pottering around Windermere in the boat. This incidentally was way before we had anything to do with the Beech Hill.
The hotel was favoured by those who wanted to get out on the water, as its location and facilities meant that the boating activities proceeded really smoothly. And if you have ever had any boating exploits you will know that this is a rare thing. You could leave your room via the french doors and walk through the garden straight on to your water sport activity.
I have so many memories of laughter, joy, rain, sun, amazing views of this beautiful lake, I recall bending the propeller while I was navigating the boat over some shallow waters to my father's annoyance, many picnic lunches on the boat and so much more.
All very fondly remembered however I have some regret that our lakeshore area isn't used as much as it used to be. In 2005 the powers that be decided to introduce a 10 knot speed limit on the lake. The speed restriction meant those activities were no longer possible resulting in the demand naturally falling away.
That is until the 14th June 2018... this date may sound familiar because of football matches happening in some far flung places. Well true, but not in the context of this blog. This is the date Wake Nation and Beech Hill Hotel & Spa have teamed up to bring the fun back into water sport activities at the hotel.
From 14th June onwards Wake Nation will be operating from the hotel's Lakeshore and Jetties and they will be offering initially Wake boarding/surfing, Lessons, Skippered Boat Hire and Stand Up Paddle boards.
So why not give it a try, all the activities are pretty much suitable for any age old or young and once you've worn yourself out you could always chill out in our spa.
