Theatre by the Lake is showing Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It.’ The stunning theatre, Theatre by the Lake, is once again offering up a chance to see a great play in gorgeous surroundings. As You Like It, the Shakespearean comedy, is revised as a witty tale of love and set in the modern age amidst heated political power struggles. The play is showing from Saturday the 8th of July until Saturday the 4th of November. Tickets are priced between £10 and £36 depending on the type of customer (adult, concession, child etc).
This achingly funny tale which centres around the themes of love and identity does not disappoint.
The plot involves a young couple called Rosalind and Celia who end up drawn into a world of power and alternative facts in the present day. Seeking a life of peace and tranquility they relocate to the forest. Rosalind meets and falls in love with a young man named Orlando, whilst dressed as a boy.
One of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies featuring a celebrated heroine, As You Like It is transformed in this contemporary production by Kate Saxon.
The production is brought about with help from Shared Experience, who are renowned for bringing to life iconic works of brilliant story telling. Some of their previous works include Mill on the Floss and Jane Eyre.
