The Gallery at Yew Tree Barn, at Low Newton, Nr Cartmel, Cumbria, is a great way to spend a languid afternoon, whilst on holiday in these parts. Boasting a range of contemporary and oldy-worldy pieces, a relaxed walk around the venue is time well spent. The building itself is a sight to behold and features original beams and whitewashed walls. In terms of pieces, the gallery includes exhibitions of contemporary art and design-led crafts, including jewellery, paintings, ceramics, photography, textiles, cards and gifts.
Many of the makers and artists are based here in Cumbria and the North of England, so it’s a great opportunity to see some local talent. Why not seize the opportunity to purchase a gift for the home or a souvenir of your time in The Lakes. At the end of your gander around the museum, you can stop in by Harry’s Cafe bar for refreshments.
The museum is open Monday to Saturday 9 am – 5 pm
Sundays, Bank Holidays & Easter Saturday 10 am – 4 pm
