The Words by the Water Festival at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick 13 March 2016, is set to be another fantastic celebration of literary splendour and spoken word with a series of academic and cultural talks. There will be some great current authors and poets attending this year, so it’s well worth your time to attend and rub shoulders.
James Naughtie and Melvyn Bragg to name but a few, are hotly tipped to make an appearance in this picturesque location. Even the Booker Prize-winner Ben Okri, might be walking the hallowed turf of the fells this year. Even the legendary Richard Dawkins is scheduled to conduct a talk on his many fascinating findings and thoughts.
There is a fantastic lecture at Derwentwater from British doctor Sir George Alberti, who will explore the role of the NHS in British society over the years, from it’s early formation thanks to the the ingenuity of Aneurin Bevan and hard-work of Clement Atlee’s government, through to present day.
Words by the Water has something for everyone who is a fan of spoken word and who wants to absorb the ideas of some great thinkers, specialising in a broad spectrum of themes and topics.

From M6 jct 40 and follow A66 towards Keswick, follow brown signs to Theatre and Lakeside. On foot the theatre is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Keswick.
