Not to be missed this Autumn, is the Westmorland County Show, on Thursday the 10th of September, between 8 am and 5:30pm.
Voted as one of the UK’s favourite agricultural shows and Cumbria's tourism event of the year, on an average year this show can attract up to 30,000 people. The event is essentially a livestock show, featuring cattle, sheep, goats, horses, pigs as well as the ever-popular dog show.
There will be a marquee run by the Women’s Institute, plus excellent artisan craft stalls and a food hall, featuring some of the best local produce Cumbria has to offer. Indeed the food hall is famous nationwide for its cameos from celebrity chefs and for being the largest local produce food hall in the North West of England. It really is a taste, try and buy experience.
In what is one of the largest one day shows in the country, there is up to 350 trade stands. There really is something for everyone at this event.
To top it all, the sheep show is back this year, featuring the famous dancing sheep.
New for 2015, is the World Championship for Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling in the Under 18 Category. It is not to be missed, especially not by those of you bringing along teenaged children.
The exact location of the event is Lane Farm, Crooklands, Kendal, Cumbria LA7 7NH. An enhanced free bus service will operate throughout the day from Kendal & Milnthorpe, making travel straightforward, just make sure you get to the station early to avoid queues.
Tickets are available in advance from many outlets and can also be purchased via the website, including a print-at-home E-ticket option.
