Later this month why not take a look at The Westmorland Country Show. Central to this country show is all things agriculture and for lovers of rural culture this is a must attend event. It is consistently voted as one of the UK’s best agricultural shows and was even named 2015 Tourism Event of the Year. It is a huge one day show that often attracts up to 30,000 people, from curious tourists to regular local attendees.
Held on the second Thursday in September, between 8am and 5:30 pm the location could not be more scenic. It is 6 miles from Oxenholme station in Crooklands, Milnthorpe. Free parking is available on-site.
A major livestock show takes place where attendees can view all types of farm yard animals such as cattle, sheep, horses, pigs and goats as well as alpacas and dogs. Also in attendance at one of the many marquees will be the Women's Institute. Artisan craft stores and art offerings are sprinkled throughout the site. There is a fantastic food hall where local produce is available- a great chance to sample some fresh delicacies. There are also many trade shows to discover.
