Music from Six Countries at Holy Trinity Church, Kirkby Lonsdale - 7.30pm on 18 November 2107. In the mood for music? Later in November, there is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in some fantastic sounds.
Allegri Singers present a programme of unaccompanied European works, spanning four corners of the continent. It starts with the warm multi-choir motets by Lobo, sunny Spain’s finest. Next there is a 3 piece Brahms offering. The German composer produced some of his best work towards the end of his life and the three pieces featured typifies this. His Austrian contemporary Anton Bruckner provides a sound that is the antithesis, which provides the perfect contrast to end the first half of the concert with. England is up next with three songs from master Thomas Tallis, then there are some motets by Frenchman Maurice Duruflé, ending with some flavour from the Emerald Isle courtesy of Charles Stanford.
This is a unique and lasting experience, in the beautiful surrounding of Holy Trinity Church. Not to be missed.
