Celia Strickland’s life
There are not many chances to gaze into the life of a historical figure so clearly and in such detail, but thanks to the preservation of her 18th century diaries, Celia Strickland’s life can be revisited in the present day.
Strickland was of course the lady of Sizergh Castle in the 18th century and lived a life typical of the rich aristocracy of her day. Her diaries explore the age old universal themes of love, loss and hope, in a vernacular which has long since died out.
For lovers of history, this is a great day out and a chance to read these surviving diary entries in the beautiful surroundings of Sizergh Castle, near Kendal in Cumbria.
The event runs from Sat 16 Mar - Sun 27 Oct 2019, between 12 pm and 16 pm.
The event is free for National Trust members and £6.00 per child and £12.00 per adult. £30.00 family tickets can also be purchased. For more information visit the NT's Website
