Lakesman Triathlon

Feeling fit and energetic? Ready for a challenge? The Lakesman event in Keswick could be the event for you.

This event has been a long and arduous task for the organisers and sponsors, who have worked tirelessly for three years to bring a long distance event to the Lake District.

The Lakesman will include a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile cycle and a full marathon run.

This is an event that is designed to appeal to the new wave of endurance run fanatics and the great thing about this particular run is that all road courses avoid mountain passes and fells to keep elevation to a minimum.

The race is based in Keswick and runs past the gorgeous Theatre by the Lake. The swimming section of the race will be held in the Derwentwater, which is one of the Lake District’s most majestic bodies of water.

The cycling section of the race takes in the part of the Lakes that is the most wild and untamed, the paths enjoy mountains on one side and the sea on the other.

The event has to rank as one of the most serene and beautiful on the triathlon calendar. The unspoilt countryside that punctuates the routes is unrivalled anywhere else in England. Views of the likes of Skiddaw are breathtaking, and the spectator friendly section in Keswick town centre is also very pleasant.

For more information on how to take part in the event head on over to The Lakesman for sign up forms etc. The race takes place on Sunday the 19th of June.
