The Lakes are a hotbed of alcohol production. You might be surprised to learn what goes on, on these shores. Many are unaware of how much whisky, gin and vodka, is bottled and distributed right here in Cumbria. To discover more, we strongly recommend you take a trip to The Lakes Distillery.
Get to know the picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake, which you pass on the drive there. Your visit will also include a drive from the River Derwent down to the sea before you arrive at the distillery and enter the rooms where the beverages are made. Watch the spirits being crafted before your eyes and enjoy the fascinating process of production and cultivation.
Not only will the tour guides be on hand to answer any questions you might have, there is also a tasting session of three spirits – The ONE, The Lakes Gin and The Lakes Vodka. The ticket also entitles you to £5 off any 70cl bottle, purchased on site.
Tours run from 11 am to 5pm and last 45 minutes to an hour. You can book your tour online at Lakes Distillery or in the lakes distillery gift shop.
