Kendal Mountain Festival

Not to be missed in the Lakes this season, is this years Kendal Mountain Festival, in Highgate, Kendal,Cumbria. Taking place on Thursday the 19th - Sunday the 22nd of Nov 2015, this event is for enthusiasts of the high-altitudes and all lovers of the rockier climbs. Kendal Mountain Festival is the world's biggest mountain festival. It celebrates all things mountain related, from literature, to folk-tales, to art and uses them to inspire people to explore the mountains that are on their own door steps and all the wonders that they hold.

The main focus of the festival is the film festival. There are several screenings on show, all of which centre around different aspects of mountain life, be it environmental changes to the landscapes, or the indigenous tribes that once populated these sites. The films are screened for 3 days, and at the end of which they are rounded off by a mini-oscars style award ceremony! The films are hugely informative and help tourists and locals alike to understand the nature and history of their landscape, like never before.

The festival is a popular date in the Lakeland calendar and always draws a big and enthusiastic crowd of film buffs and curious visitors alike. It is well run and stylishly laid out.
