Looking for something different to discover whilst on holiday in the Lakes? This might be just the day trip for you and your group.
Heaton Cooper studio, in Grasmere, Ambleside, is home to a fantastic exhibition until March 6th called “Prominent Lines.”
The exhibition aims to examine the aesthetic qualities of rock climbing and mountainous terrains. It is the latest volume of work from the Sheffield-based artist Tessa Lyons, who as a climber in her own right has had a life long obsession with the beauty of the crags and rocks of the Lakes.
The bulk of Tessa’s work is produced in charcoal and chalk and draws influence from Japanese calligraphy and Zen paintings. The natural beauty of Geology informs much of what she creates. The collection is far from one dimensional with some drawings of mountains averaging two meters and some smaller pictures of ink coloured individual rock climbs, being about A4 in size.
The exhibit shows the lakes from a slightly different, though no less beautiful angle.
The exhibit is on at The Studio, Grasmere, Ambleside, Cumbria,LA22 9SX.
