Fairport Convention, has been making great music for nearly fifty years. Seen as the original English folk-rock band, their ever-changing line-up has not stifled their love of performing live.
From winning the coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and Radio 2’s 'The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time’ for Liege & Lief, their unique story is colourful and varied and is now the subject of a new BBC 4 documentary.
Fairport Convention features Simon Nicol on guitar and vocals, Dave Pegg on bass guitar, Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin and vocals, Ric Sanders on violin and Gerry Conway on drums and percussion. Their music captures the very spirit of England, and Cumbria makes for the perfect setting for their live performances. Their old-world vibes blend perfectly with Cumbria's timeless landscape.
They have an impressive back catalogue that will please newcomers and old fans alike and despite their ages- don’t be surprised if they leap around the stage like spritely young things.
