The Duddon Valley

If it’s a scenic walk you are looking for, then the Duddon Valley is the place for you. From glorious fells to peaceful river banks, this area has it all. Its serene and tranquil surroundings make it the perfect place to picnic, stroll and immerse yourself in nature.

There are a range of accessible footpaths for you to walk down that will help ensure you take in the best of this particular area of countryside. If water-sports are your thing, there is canoeing facilities on offer and of course climbing and scrambling.

In terms of wild life, you are spoiled for choice, many generations of farmers have raised the native Herdwicks which can be seen grazing out in the fells. Buzzards and falcons can also be seen swirling the clouds above.  If you get tired of all the exercise, a few miles away is the historic market town of Broughton-in-Furness. Settle in for a pint in a nice cosy pub, or sample some local cuisine in one of the restaurants. There are also the tiny villages of Ulpha and Seathwaite at each end of the valley. Both villages have a great range of places to eat and drink, despite their minuscule sizes.
