Comic Art Festival

Head on down to Kendal in the middle weekend of October and check out the Lakes International Comic Art Festival from the 14th to the 16th.  The entire town of Kendall on the edge of the Lakes, will be overrun with comic book creators and fans from around the world as well as featuring live drawing, film, exhibitions, comic trails, workshops, performance, master classes, a free Family Zone and independent publishers.

This is expected to be a fantastic weekend, celebrating all that is unique and inspiring about the world of comic art. This is the only event of its kind in the UK and is set to attract a huge range of graphic novel and comic book fans from across the country. On his visit in 2013 internationally-renowned comic artist Joe Sacco said the festival was an “important moment in British comics”.

The festival has a diverse range of activities on its bill, scheduled to go ahead at various different points throughout the weekend, including a clock tower attraction full of creators, illustrators and fans from around the world discussing everything comics.

There is a ticketed event which allows participants to mingle and get acquainted with some of the most renowned artists in the biz, as they draw and talk about their works. As well as workshops and master classes, there are also free exhibitions and a free Windows on Comic Art Trail around town.

There will of course be quirky bars and eateries on site in addition to a free family zone with lots of drop-in activities for all ages.

This really is a great event and a surreal experience seeing a whole town catch the comic book bug, for one weekend in October.
