Bushcraft Experiences

Fire Lighting and Shelter Building with Mere Mountains. Mere Mountains are a mobile company offering a range of activities at venues in the South of the Lake District. They offer bushcraft experiences to groups of all sizes. They supply you with all the kit you need, just ring up and they will send you details of where to meet them and what to bring.

One of the many great experiences they offer is short courses on fire lighting and shelter building. Using fire, flint and natural materials, instructors will teach you how to keep warm the way our ancestors did.  You will learn not just how to make a fire but how to maintain it also. This is where shelter building comes in. In order to keep the flames going all night, our forefathers would create shelters to keep the elements away from their furnaces, so they could cook and stay warm.

Sessions are 2 – 3 hours long. Activities are priced at a set cost for 1 - 4 people or charged per person for groups of 5 plus. All equipment is provided.

Sessions are also run in the school holidays, although participants aged between 8 and 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
