Dubbed the flagship British blues festival, the Bowness Blues festival takes place right here in the South Lakes. It is happening on Lake Windermere, between the 7th and 9th of April, the festival is organised by The Rotary Club of Windermere and will see a host of big names from the Blues world, take to the stage.
Each night performances will be raw and exciting and feature a wide range of acts from the likes of blues/rock guitarist Geoff Achison (above) with his UK Souldiggers to LaVendore Rogue and the 1950 swing and rock'n'roll band; The Revolutionaries.
The main festival in Bowness, will take place at Lake District Boat Club, Hole in’t Wall, The Quayside and the Wheelhouse.
In addition to great acts from around the world, this years festival invites participants to get involved in a Blues Cruise of Lake Windermere on Saturday 8th of April from 18.30 to 20.30.
There is also a free fringe festival in Windermere, giving you the chance to check out some under the radar acts in four venues- Grey Walls, The Lamplighter, The Elleray and The Brookside.
This really is a spirited event and a unique chance to see some of the worlds best blues bands and acts, in gorgeous surroundings. Even better the festival raises several thousand pounds for local charities.
