For those of you who want to get to grips with the traditional flavour of the Lake District, this could be the event for you.
Ambleside Sports is the biggest of the traditional Lakeland Sports, held on the last Thursday of July at Rydal Park.
Amazingly, this is the 130th year of Ambleside Sports, but far from being rooted in the past, this year there will be for the first time the Women’s Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling World Championships- revolutionary stuff! Other events to look forward to are the likes of the traditional wrestling, hound trailing, fell and track races and cycle racing. In addition to the sports are some great stalls and refreshments for all the family, along with marquee tents and and some events for children.
The site is one mile north of Ambleside on the A591, with parking on site.
A full downloadable list of events will be disclosed on the Ambleside Sports website, on the day of the event.
This really is a great event for all the family, especially those looking to engage with the rich, exciting history of the Lake District.
