Access Statement of the Beech Hill Hotel

The Beech Hill Hotel was originally built around 1900 and so does have some physical limitations to accessibility. However, as we have extended the hotel we have been able to improve the facilities and intend to continue making improvements to access as and when building work takes place.

Our most important asset is our long-standing team who have many years of experience. Please explain any individual needs to our reception or reservations team, who will be able to advise on the most suitable options.  We are happy to take assistance dogs.

Arrival

We have a drop off point next to the front entrance with reserved parking for guests with reduced mobility.  We offer a porterage service for luggage. Please leave luggage in your car on arrival so that we may bring this to your room. We have one very shallow step up to the front door.

Public Areas

All the public areas within the hotel are on the ground floor, including the restaurant, lounge, bar, terrace and cloakrooms. All are on one level, with just three steps up to the restaurant for which we have a portable ramp.  We have a wide variety of chairs and tables of different heights and back supports. Unfortunately our cloak rooms are not adapted for wheelchair use, however we do intend to improve this during our next phase of renovations.  We offer large print menus on request and 24 hour room service. Perhaps enjoy breakfast served to your room and join us in the restaurant in the evening. Allergies and specific food tolerances are fully catered for, although we cannot guarantee against trace elements. We are very happy to change the menu for guests or to offer specifically requested dishes, equally, our chefs are extremely happy to discuss any specific requirements you may have.

Access From Public Areas To The Bedrooms

Unfortunately, due to the constraints of the original building we do not have a lift. The hotel is built on a hillside, and as such the bedrooms are on different floors to the public areas, however, 4 of the bedrooms are on the same level as the public areas.  Internal access between the public areas and the majority of bedrooms is via stairs, all of which have railings. Some of these bedrooms are located next to the stairs leading to the public areas. Because of the unusual layout of the hotel there may be several flights of stairs to negotiate between bedrooms and public rooms, again please do discuss this at the time of booking.

The Bedrooms & Gardens

Most of the bedrooms are not suitable for wheelchair users, but are suitable for people with some reduced mobility, perhaps with walking sticks or crutches. Please ask which rooms would be most suitable on booking. We will happily rearrange or change bedroom furniture to meet specific requirements.  Some bedrooms have direct access to the gardens giving limited access to the main car park. As a result use of the stairs can be minimised with access needed only for reception and public area’s (including the restaurant)  Please speak to a member of our reservations team for full details and locations of these rooms. Unfortunately access to the main hotel gardens is via stairs only.
