Morris Dancing tuition

Morris Dancing tuition at Wigton Methodist Church. Ever wanted to try your hand at Morris dancing? Considering you are in the most iconic of English landscapes, then why not have a go at this most iconic of English past-times. Not as simple as it looks, this age old tradition involves intricate steps and movements that combine to create the collective display that we have come to know as Morris Dancing. What’s not to love about the national dance? It is based on rhythmic steps and ritualistic movement. When performed by a group of dancers, the full shebang involves bell pads, sticks, swords and handkerchiefs.

There are classes that take place in Carlisle on Fridays, right through until Friday the 11th of December 2015. The location is on High Street, Wigton. Entry is free, as is often the case with community led activities around these parts. What could be a better winter activity than learning a new traditional pastime, in the warmth of a dance space.

Morris Dancing tuition and practice, is for musicians as well as those seeking to learn to master the art as dancers. Beginners are always welcome. Make new friends, stay fit and keep dancing, is the idea behind it all.
